Welcome to Button, OpenTable.. first connection Foursquare

Today, we’re thrilled to announce the latest partnership within our expanding Button Marketplace: Foursquare and OpenTable! The powerful app connection replaces the previous mobile web experience and makes it even easier to reserve tables at your favorite restaurants with the tap of a button.

People use Foursquare to discover great places to go to and find out what to do when they get there. Foursquare’s latest Button integration is making their users’ experience that much more delightful by allowing them to instantly view table availability at the restaurants they’ve discovered right within the Foursquare experience and then seamlessly make bookings at OpenTable’s network of tens of thousands of restaurants.

“At Foursquare, our goal is to help people find great experiences, wherever they are in the world. Our partnership with OpenTable allows people to book a reservation, which is often a complementary step in that journey. Working with Button has allowed us to simplify the experience for both our users and our development team. We’ve made the process of finding and booking a great meal a few taps closer,” said Mike Harkey, VP of Business Development at Foursquare.

“Button’s platform for deeplinking restaurant reservations in Foursquare provides a great user experience for diners booking on the go, either through Foursquare or through OpenTable’s mobile app,” said Catherine Porter, VP of Corporate and Business Development at OpenTable. “We appreciated the support Button provides in turning around this functionality quickly and easily.”

“Button is honored to be working with companies as well respected as Foursquare and OpenTable - allowing us to showcase our vision of contextual commerce,” said Michael Jaconi, Co-Founder and CEO of Button. “The intent paradigm in mobile has shifted, and now consumers no longer start every journey at a ‘search engine’. In this new landscape, monetization is going to evolve into a more commerce-oriented approach like the one Button is pioneering”.

Having industry leaders like Foursquare, OpenTable, and Uber lead the way with this approach indicates that this trend is just starting…and Button’s thrilled to be playing its part!
